Harry potter and the Half Blood Prince are the sixth books of its series. It tells the story about Harry Potter with his truly enemy, Tom Marvolo Riddle or Lord Voldemort, but mostly called by his followers through proudly say themselves with Death Eater as The Dark Lord. In this book Harry gets the hospitality from his friend in Gryffindor, whom are Ronald Weasley and Hermione Gringer. He also gets the private lesson from Hogwarts Headmaster. Actually, it can`t be said as a lesson because most of it spent by returning time to the past, to get closer or even more, to know the background of Harry`s enemy, Lord Voldemort. There are so many conflicts in this story. Whether the physical, intellectual, moral, and emotional ones. In the very beginning story, the book tells that there are so many weird accidents, which abnormal happen as the natural disaster and its effect by the changing of Cornelius Fudge as the Minister of Magic replaced by Refus Scrimgeour. Harry which known as the Boy Who Lived is also got his new nickname that can make him more famous than ever; the Daily Prophet (magic newspaper) gives him the new moniker as The Chosen One. It makes him be the central attention of magic world, even when he wants to take the selection player for Quiddicth, he becomes so confuse because most of them want to join his club in Gryffindor team because almost half of them are from the other dormitory, such as Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Harry has to pass his emotional conflicts as well, he has to fight his love feeling with the girl who always fulfill his mind, but it is complicated because the girl he likes is his best friend’s younger sister, and he isn`t sure to tell his feeling because he afraid to break his beloved people`s heart. In other chapter, we can also find the physicals conflict, which is more than one conflict, just like in “Menara Tersambar Petir” part, it tells about the battle in Gryffindor Tower between the Hogwarts teacher and its student against the Death Eater, which take a mesmerize event follow by the death of Dumbledore. It is so unbelievable because he is the only one who can make Voldemort`s to be scared of. In intellectual conflict, we can find in the book when Hermione as the cleverest students in Hogwarts defeated by Harry Potter in Potion class. It makes her jealous because Harry has no idea for being the brightest student in class without the Half Blood Prince`s Potion book.
The protagonist goals in this book are reveal the secret of the antagonist, which as I told above that Harry`s got to know the past of Voldemort at first, so that he can takes the conclusion about shattered Voldemort with demolish his souls, that have already divided into seven places, or mostly called as Horcruxes. Harry has to find and destroy it because if he can`t broke it, it would be vain thing. It can make the Dark Lord dead. This book gives the surprise for the reader, because Snape as the one who get the trust from Dumbledore. He kills Dumbledore at last, and it makes the story more complicate to carry on. The writer has the Horcruxes and the scandal of betrayer in the seventh book to finish and complete the story.
The story is a little bit complex, but if we see that accurately. I can say that one new case made to done or solve the other case. It is fun, as long as the story doesn`t really bored and make the reader confuse about many case to read about. According to my statement above, let`s we talk about this story, accidently or not, surely there are some reasons that can make Snape changed as the Defense for The Dark Art teacher, it is caused the writer wants to reveal the secret of Voldemort about his Horcruxes, that only known by Horace Slughorn as Voldemort`s former teacher or the one who keeps the secret about Voldemort and his immortal life. Every case relate to the other.
Ending of this story is ambiguous because writer still remains many cases that left behind, in the end of the novel, Harry knows about the Half Blood Prince which is the nickname of Snape, the one who kill Dumbledore and the one who makes him become the cleverest student in Potion Class. This sixth novel gives us the ideology or assumption that Voldemort can only be killed with destroy his whole Horcruxes, but writer also put the information that some of its have been destroyed by Dumbledore such as Gaunt`s (Voldemort`s Grandfather) ring, Slytherin necklace, stolen horcrux which found by Harry and Dumbledore in cave, and for the last Tom Riddle`s Diary which destroyed by Harry in former book titled Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret.
I think in this book, there are a lot of sources interest that keep you read until the last one series. We can find mystery, suspense, irony, and any kinds of reversal to finish this sequel books. The writer keeps reader to stay read this book because she writes about the mystery of Voldemort and Snape, and of course the existence of horcrux as Voldemort`s soul that never mentioned in the previous books. This book is also told about the suspense, especially in the last chapter. Writer can describes the story clearly, so we can figure it out in our mind. Just like when Harry and Dumbledore go to the cave, she can explains the setting around them, and we feel tension when the battle between Hogwarts and Death Eater happen. Irony is also take its part in this book, the Potter`s mania will never imagine that Dumbledore as the headmaster of Hogwarts died by the curse of Severus Snape, the one who he trusted much and mostly all of this book takes a victim, such as Cedric Diggrory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
This novel mostly tells about Harry`s life and the writer use present tense, but when she writes about Voldemort`s, she uses past tense because it happens in a long time ago. But in some part, she uses future tense, like when Dumbledore sending Harry a letter about his their planning to visit Horace Slughorn after pick Harry up in Private Drive. The using of base tense is depended about the time signal or any condition in plot.
According to the genre, this novel can be related to the adventure genre, it can be seen in conventional plot such as most of the setting taken place in magical world such as Hogwarts, Diagon Alley in some sub title, and of course King Cross 9 ¾ quarter, where magical and muggle(non magical folk) world separate. The writer also takes her story tidily, such as at the very beginning, she always put Harry at muggle which known as Private Drive, where the Dursleys alive.
Harry Potter is books which written by British writer, some of the context in this novel followed by the culture of its country or the custom of its society. According to my opinion, in this novel, Rowling tries to describe about his country government, such as the existence of prime minister that followed in magical world. In some plot, she wants to let the reader know about weather elements that would be different to any other country, such as Indonesia, she writes that when winter comes, most of Hogwarts would have a long holiday to celebrate Christmas but, rarely happen in Indonesia.
This novel basically wants to tell about two sides in life, which divided as good manner and bad manner. This story at the very beginning, which from Harry Potter and the sorcerer`s stone tells about Harry`s goodness that struggle to stay life because out there, there is someone who wants to kill him. Writer also tells about the sacrificed, friendship and love. When we read Harry Potter, actually most of the creature such as Cerberus comes from the fairy tale in entire world, but if you pay attention to the entire creature, you possibly say that Rowling is not the good reader but she also the good writer. She can mix all that to be an amazing novel such as Harry Potter. As my above statement, I probably want to make sure to all of you by reading the Magical World of Harry Potter book, because its book tells about the background and the secret of magic world that make Harry Potter series more amazing
By having a long essay about Harry Potter and his story above, I would like to say about my opinion. I think this book is such a wonderful book to be written, I would to say that because after I read about it, in later time I know that Rowling is a good writer, he can mix all elements which commonly known in magic world to be a good composition. Maybe, at the very beginning, I want to say it`s a weird book, uncommonly talk about magic. But, when I read it again, really… it makes me wait and wait again until the last one. I also like about her Quiddicth, Hogwarts and its students dormitory, the forbidden forest and all such things in Harry Potter. I wonder that she can own a brilliant idea about this story because according to my knowledge about that, Rowling finds her idea when she was in train.
